Founded in 1687 during the late Ayutthaya kingdom, Wat Muang fell into ruin after the Kingdom was invaded by Burma in 1982, it was rebuilt again by Phra Ku Wiboon Acharn Khun, who passed by the site during his forest-dweller’s practice. Two ancient stone tablets called “Silakao” amd “Siladaeng” were also found in the grounds of the temple.
